ELIGIBILITY |
Each selected ceramic artist will receive a semi-private studio space equipped with two work tables and shelving, 24/7 studio access, free firings, and employee discounts on clay and supplies. Painting residents will also have a semi-private studio space. There will be opportunities to teach classes and workshops and also opportunities to exhibit and sell work. The selected artists will have a show in our café gallery at the end of the residency term. There are no residency fees, but the artists are responsible for their own supplies and housing.
Residents will be scheduled for ten hours of work per week to the WCAC studio. Tasks are determined by the Studio Manager, but may include mixing glazes, firing kilns, maintaining kiln furniture, installing work for exhibitions, cleaning, welcoming students, teaching the "Try Clay" class for beginners and more. An important aspect of the residency program is participation in our community of teachers and students. Residents must be available to interact with other studio members and become an integral part of our community.
Applicants must have a BFA or equivalent work experience. Some teaching experience is a plus.
