Ceramic Sculpture
January 22 - April 1
Wednesdays 6:00-8:00
Students of all levels are welcome to join this class. Beginner students will learn to construct sculptural forms, and functional if they wish, with traditional handbuilding techniques. Experienced students will continue to develop their own skills and processes with assistance from the instructor.
In Mark’s own work, he utilizes metaphor as inspiration for conceptual meaning. With this in mind, he is able to speak a message to the viewer, and portray a sense of drama. Slips and glazes contrast with the red clay he uses thus increasing the variety in the color palette and help to emphasize different elements of the sculpture.
Ceramic Handbuilding
January 22 - April 1
Wednesday 2:00-4:00 OR Thursday 1:00-3:00
*please specify which day you're registering for by emailing marshavanvlack@gmail.com*
Students of all levels are welcome to join this class. Different methods of constructing works from clay will be covered to achieve a variety of results. These methods include but are not limited to coil-built, slab-built, and pinched pots. Experienced students will continue to develop their own skills and processes with assistance from the instructor.
While Marsha enjoys different methods of alternative firing, she will focus more on demonstrating how to make different shapes and textures to provide contrast during this session.
Advanced Wheel Throwing

Watercolor Painting
Tuesdays 2-4
January 22 - April 1
Painters of all skill levels are encouraged to join this class. Katelyn will be covering the fundamentals of painting with watercolors and enriching the gestural brushstrokes with more defined line-work. As the class will be taking place during the holidays, this would be the perfect time to try and learn a new creative skill and make something for a loved one.
Katelyn has a primary subject focus on botanicals and plant based content, and draws much of her inspiration from living things. She is originally from Limestone, NY and just recently moved to the area having graduated from Houghton College.
To be taught in the basement.
