Advanced Wheel Methods: Making Ceramic Pairs and Sets
Instructor: Kimberly Grossman
September 4 - November 16
Wednesdays 2:00 - 4:00
This class is recommended for those who have experience with clay. Students will focus on developing nuance and finishing their wheel thrown forms. They will gain confidence and hone their skills through each step of the making process as the instructor guides students through both assignments and self-directed projects.
Kimberly plans to focus primarily on making ceramic works in pairs during this session. For example, if cream and sugar are preferred in someone’s coffee, this student would be shown how to make holders for these additives, a mug, and possibly a spoon that match. The repetition of similar surface decoration techniques and color application on multiple works help to unify different parts of the same set.
